To transform a 150-hectare wasteland into a wildlife reserve of national significance for the Queenstown community and visitors to enjoy.

Why Tucker Beach

Tucker Beach Wildlife Management Reserve is a precious, dynamic and irreplaceable ecosystem that is home to a diverse range of plant and animal species. Its preservation is essential to maintain the ecological balance of the region and to provide a tranquil and natural environment for the Queenstown community to enjoy.

Our Iniatives

Restoring Endangered Bird Habitat

We are restoring the nesting and foraging habitats of Threatened and At-Risk migratory birds after decades of degradation to help reverse population declines.

Partnering with Rūnanga

The Kimiākau is identified as Wāhi Tūpuna part of the extensive network of kāika mahika kai (food gathering places) and traditional travel routes throughout Central Otago [taken from the QLDC Proposed District Plan]. Restoring the mauri of this site is our focus

Combatting Weeds & Predators

We are generating resources, awareness, funds and education on restoring this neglected land.

100,000 people will use the Tucker Beach Trail section of the Queenstown trail.
